Whew! I am finally finished with my project I've been working on for the past 2 weeks. It was a lot of work but I had a lot of fun doing it. Everything turned out so cute and I am pretty proud of myself that I did it! I know the word "proud" might sound conceded but I don't care. I think you can be proud of something hard that you made that turned out really well. =)
I made bedding for the crib and a car seat cover with the left over material. I made everything from scratch- the crib sheets, the bumpers, the dust ruffle, the quilt, everything! Granted, I will NEVER do this again because it was so much time and work and money but it was a fun once in a lifetime project. If you ever want to do this yourself I would be glad to help you but I have to warn you that making your own is way more expensive than just buying everything at Babies R Us (except for the car seat cover- you can save a lot of money making these yourself because they are going for $40-$50 bucks right now! I spent about $10-$15 making mine). Anyways, I thought I was going to save at least half the amount of money making the crib bedding myself (that is why I wanted to do it in the first place) but it calls for a TON of fabric and it isn't cheap, especially if you want cute fabric. Unless you can get all your fabric for $2.00-$3.00 a yard it isn't going to save you money...I promise.
So here it is- the finished projects!!! (We painted the room too which was hard also but not as hard as sewing all this) =)

So there you have it!

You are so talented! They all turned out beautiful!
Kaitlyn, Way to go. They are darling. You did a beautiful job. That is a ton of work. You are talented. I am so proud of you. That means a lot that you made it all by yourself. Wow! We are impressed. It's OK and good to be proud of such an accomplishment. We love you. Mom & Dad Shelley
Oh thanks guys! =)
I am amazed Kaitlyn, such cute bedding you made. I didn't know you sewed! How fun! You have pretty much the same crib we have. I absolutely love it because it could be for a boy or girl. You look wonderful.
You should be proud! I am proud of you too! What a feat. I've never sewn anything in my life, besides pj pants. And maybe a pillowcase. :) I love the colors you chose!!
I don't know if I've ever commented on your blog. My husband, David, is Kyle's cousin (if you don't know who's been blog stalking you). Congrats on your coming addition!! And you did an awesome job on the sewing (and the fabrics)...beautiful!! Something you should definitely be proud of.
Everything looks soooo good! I tried making a quilt once. I was going to make it out of all of my favorite onesies of Gabe's. It would have been adorable....if I had finished it. It just turned into too much work for me! I admire you for your patience and perseverance! Such a rewarding project!
way to go girl :) I am impressed! ...and I didn't even know that you knew how to sew...you are amazing!
